Do they Sell that Over the Counter?

I've been a shy fangirl of Katx Kirax of Bingo for quite a while now.  She has never had a huge store but she always injects her items with a sense of humor that I appreciate.  She recently released a sweet, little dollarbie that includes a cotton candy striped t-shirt, colorful nail polish, 2 face tattoos (1 tint-able) and a pose (not shown).  Then to top it all off she TP'ed me to Love Soul, where I won this adorable hair that was recently added to their lucky chairs, which perfectly compliments her tats. I had been trying to win it to no avail; it comes in 4 different color packs and are split between the chair in the main store and the one behind the food store.  I added the latest group gift from Pididdle, the envelope necklace, which I seriously need in RL to attach permanently to my son who is forgetting half the things he should bring home from school. Thank you to all the designers for the wonderful presents!

Jewellery Fair 2011

Jewelery Fair is upon us again. There are four sims each with their own theme; fire, earth, air or water, packed with heaps of jewelery specialists for you to browse. Proceeds from Jewelry Fair 2011 will benefit Oxfam International. Charity vendors, one of a kind auctions, and even Gacha machines are available at the fair that donate to Oxfam. There are many stalls which have free gifts and/or dolarbies throughout the fair for you to find. Here's a very small selection of the goodies available. These may or may not be free items (I took so many pictures I honestly can't remember which ones were free and which were not, and I took many more pictures than the ones that are shown here)! Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy looking through the photos and I hope it inspires you to visit the fair. Thank you to all the amazing generous designers and the Fair's organisers, without whom this would not be possible! The fair ends 25th September.

Tender Moments to Savor Forever

Just sayin'.

Sileny lies! Bright colors are not over. I am a fanatic stickler about no white shoes after Labor Day but today I'm siding with good old Nicki Minaj as covered by my second favorite ANTM judge, Andre Leon Talley, on Vogue Daily and continuing the pre-fall color show.  Heaven knows I can shop with the best of them (ask my friends) but today I found so many inexpensive goodies from some of my favorite designers!

Hair Fair '11: Last Call on Goodies!

Sadly, Hair Fair '11 ends today.  It is one of my favorite events and I rarely have enough time online durring the summer to spend as much time there as I want.  Luckily the new releases will all move to the main stores, but the gifties might not travel with them.  That means this might be your last chance to pick up some of these awesome styles.  I have covered the first 2 sims in previous posts and I am only showing a small sample here of the gifts on Sims 3 & 4.  Both sims are chocked full of gifts so get over there and I just looked on the map and they are not too full.  

You might see a lot of people today wearing bandanas instead of hair.  Today is Bandana Day and this is to show solidarity and support for the event's charity, Wigs for Kids.  Wigs for Kids provides real hair replacement for children who have lost their hair due to medical conditions.  There are some gorgeous bandanas this year from RP to silly to glam.  They are reasonably priced and only available at the fair.  I've purchased several and I hang on to them... they are particularly handy to have at high lag events to keep my own lag to a minimum.  If you want to see photos of them my suggestion is to visit Sasy Scarborough's blog, Sasypants.  She has provided amazing coverage of the event and was one of the key organizers.  The entire Hair Fair '11 team gets my admiration for their awesome build, hard work and dedication to a worthy cause!  Now hurry up and get over there!

Hair Fair Gift Tour: Chapter 2 + other Finds

There is no shortage of great finds across the grid.  Hair Fair '11 runs for a few more days.  This post will cover gifts I found on Sim 2 of the Fair.  There were so many gifts on this sim and it would take an entire page to show them so I decided to show you variety vs. quantity.  Most of the clothes and accessories I am showing are also awesome deals you can find whilst grid hopping.

Xplosion Hair has an uber generous gift in the fatpack of Lilli.  It includes two hair sizes.  The hair is adorned with cute barettes and other little decorations. The headband is texture change. There is no resizer in the hair but it is modifiable and all that was required for my fit was some slight stretching on the small size to find the right fit.  It was a great compliment to Sassy's Saucy Lass outfit from the Skull & Bones Hunt.  

I am totally digging Maria, the Alice Project gift for Hair Fair. It comes in 2 options, one with fun colors and another with "normal" colors.  Both hairs are scripted to change color as well as resize so you don't have a folder with a million hairs. The tank is part of a large gift at ChiChickie at Hair Fair.  I have to go on one of my squee rants for a minute to talk about DooDad's reopening on Oh My Stars.  I've long been a follower of Paisley Mizin, both at her old store, Sock Shop and at DooDads.  She has combined the store and there are a whole bunch of dollarbies and other great steals.  Paisley makes her own things, all original and bright as well as a bit strange.  Gotta haves for me!

Nikita Fride's Carnival hair is a bit of departure from my usual frumpy look (I've been called Bea Arthur and Florence Henderson!) but I lovvvve it.  The tat layer hairbase with it's creepy face and the hair is a partial mohawk with dreads and flips; this one will be a keeper for sure.  It looks great with Fishy Strawberry's exclusive items at the new Fashionably Late venue.

I collect hair to wear with kimonos and such so I loved loved EMO-tions' Moon hair, which is also a gift at Hair Fair.

Mina has a darling poofy ponytail style called Antje as it's gift at the Fair.  Not a fat pack or anything fancy but a lovely auburn color that I like.  It was a great compliment to the awesome July dollarbie at JustB who just moved to the new Chic sim.  Darling DooDads has yummy pink poodle for your mouth as another great dollarbie.

You can get slurls to all every booth at Hair Fair by visiting their blog.  Hair Fair's charity this year is Wigs for Kids, which provides hair replacement for children with medical conditions that cause hair loss.   All items contribute at least 15% of their proceeds to this worthy cause, though many stores are donating more than the minimum.  Don't miss it!

Hair Fair Gift Tour: Chapter 1

Greetings from Hair Fair!!! Hair Fair is all about new hair and new hair only!  This year is really special as all hair are donation items, which means that at least 15% of proceeds will benefit Wigs For Kids, though I saw many designers donating up to 50% of the purchase price to charity.  Wigs For Kids has been the charity cause for a few years now and it's purpose is to provide hair replacement for children who have lost their own hair due to chemotherapy, alopecia, burns and other medical conditions.  The official website for Hair Fair '11 is an invaluable resource as it has slurls for all designers and as well as an exhaustive list of suggestions to make the trip more enjoyable and a lot less laggy.   The sims were designed and built this year by the Hair Fair Committee, a dedicated group of folks who have been doing this for years, so they know what does and doesn't work.  It's a beach theme (think The Deck ;) and if you stay on the path you will eventually hit every booth at the fair.

My Free*Style posts are going to show some of my favorite gifts from Hair Fair '11. It isn't an exhaustive showing of everything there; I wasn't crazy about all the gifts and Hair Fair is not about gifts...it's about charity and new hair.  In spite of that there are at least 60 gifts at Hair Fair that are free or 1 L, which is a WOW that deserves a big thank you to the generosity of so many talented designers. Lots more on Sim 1 to find and worth grabbing!

I totally dug this hair gift from Gauze. Gauze has 2 fun, funky styles in their gift as well as this separate hair ornament. Toast Bard of fashionably dead gave this great purple leopard body suit as well as the necklace and earrings AND sunglasses of awesomeness.  I paired them with some denim gauchos from Mocha that are on sale this week. I've been eyeballing these for awhile and was amazed when they weren't already in my inventory and forgotten (but we won't talk about my inventory).

LeLutka had my top gift hairstyle this year.  It's called Pinned and is a wonderful fatpack that shows roots that are so popular this year. It reminds me some of a tamed down version of Rykiel, that is hard to remove from my head.  The barrette is not color change but if you have some texturing talent the hair is mod so you can make changes as needed to this accessory.  The skirt outfit is from pr!tty who also has some great hair feather headbands and accessories, which didn't work with this hair but are awesome!  The cuffs and collar are part of a very large gift from !DERP.

I love great looking retro hair and Pocket Mirrors has an awesome cut in Melinda.  It comes in two colors.  I usually am a blonde in SL but for some reason I seem to prefer dark colors when it comes to retro styles.  The lovely hair bow is a gift from Donna Flora.  It is impeccably textured and detailed with lovely filigree gold detail wrapping the pearls. It's truly a sensational little piece.
